TEMPLE GRANDIN - True Story of an Autistic Inventor (Sleeper)

Posted by Jean Jessup on Saturday, March 26, 2011, In : Docudrama

"...different, but not less." - Temple Grandin

This HBO film, Temple Grandin is the true story of Temple Grandin, Ph.D. who is the first autistic person to write about and lecture about her own autistic experience.  She is also an inventor that has created humane systems for herding cattle which are utilized by 50% of the cattle industry today.  This is the most uplifting, inspiring film I have seen in the past few years.  It won 7 Emmys in 2010 for star, Claire Danes and HBO.

"We control the creation of truth." - Cobra Commander, GI Joe, Episode 49, "The Wrong Stuff"

GI Joe in general: It's so intriguing to me that the GI Joe animated TV series from 1986/1986 was so packed with references to the conspiracy theory topics that are currently in the public awareness.  I started to go through the episodes one by one.  But I found the episodes tedious and fatiguing to watch at times, unless I found explicit references to what's actually happening with our society today. ...

A funny vision of the results of all the problems we have now.  Watch episodes for free here.

I just rented the 6th season of Futurama.  I love that show.  It's by the same creator of the Simpsons, Matt Groening.  There are so many funny references to big corporate influences, alien control, environmental pollution, and other horrific issues plaguing us today.  I like to also pay attention to the hidden-in-plain-site messages while I'm laughing my butt off.

Whenever the characters go to City Ha...

An example of how things are getting better.

I heard that the Mad Men TV show on AMC was hard to watch because it was so sexist.  So I had to see what it was all about.  I started with the first episode, got hooked and saw all three seasons.  I'm looking forward with baited breath to see the 4th season.

The story starts out in 1960 and introduces us to the various characters who work in a fictitious marketing firm on Madison Ave in NYC.  Everyone is smoking, absolutely everyone at work and at h...
